"a must read"
While out with the girls, Maura Keegan talks her drunk
friends into going in the park, stripping naked, and
summoning an immortal. They get scared by a bolt of
lighting and try to dress quickly in their own clothes,
all the while bantering with each other. One of her
friends questions Maura's summoning abilities "is that
what you call summoning? To face in the general direction
of Romania and mutter, "Where the hell are you, damn it?'"
As they are leaving the park, still going on like a group
of drunken women (which they are), one falls down and
passes out. Little do they know that the summoning worked
and Adrian, a vampire had just made it to the park to see
the group trying to leave. He offers assistance while
trying to figure out which one summoned him, and in no
time he realizes that it was Maura. The next night Adrian shows up at the same bar that Maura
was at and conveniently leaves at the same time, he offers
to share a cab with her. She does not remember him from
the night before. When they arrive at her apartment, they
say their goodbyes. Adrian waits around back to see which
light comes on upstairs, to find out which apartment is
Maura's. He then goes up on her fire escape and looks in.
One really hot scene follows, but Maura is still not aware
of him as a vampire. Maura owns a vintage clothing shop in SoHo that is not
doing so well, due to the current fashion trends. She
decides to add a Goth section to her store. To kill two
birds with one stone she goes "shopping" in Romania and
takes the Vampire castle tour that she had read about and
writes the whole thing off as a business expense. She is
hopelessly addicted to vampire romance novels and has
stacks of them in her bedroom. While in Romania she plans
to try to summon her immortal lover again. Adrian joins
the tour and tries to convince Maura that he is the
guy/vampire for her and to stop her from doing a second
summoning. Action, suspense, hot love scenes, humor, wit,
dysfunctional families, vampires, extra paranormal
characters, and just plain great writing make this story a
must read. I really liked this book, Ashlyn Chase had me
laughing in all the right spots and holding my breath in
others, the chemistry between her characters was perfect.

Maura Keegan, addicted to vampire romance novels, decides to add a gothic section to her vintage clothing store in SoHo. What better way to get a tax-deductible trip to Romania — and meet her future vampire mate? Adrian, a sexy vampire living right under her nose in New York, owns a vineyard in France producing very special wine for exclusive clients. It allows him and others like him to walk in daylight and avoid snacking on strangers. He's horrified to learn that the redhead he admires is planning to visit Romania to summon a "real" vampire. Adrian has every intention of being that vampire. Only trouble is, she thinks he's a wino tourist intent on spoiling her fun. A visit to his wacky Romanian family might help convince her he's for real, or send her screaming into the night.
