"a look into the world of the undead"
John Brittain, New York City Taxi cab driver, has had many
long days. But one stands out in his memory more than any
other does. It was the day that totally changed his life. John had been a New York City Police Officer, for 10 years
he had been one of the best. John carried the guilt of
that terrible day with him. He had done what he thought
was right for the grieving widow; he sent her money to
help with infant. After all it was his fault that her
husband was dead. By accident he had killed him, Randy was
his name; he had been John's partner. Lieutenant Jess Vandermire is looking for someone special,
someone she can count on. No matter what the assignment
might bring. After all she's in charge of starting a new
unit for the City of New York, a special ops unit. But
picking all her people won't be easy; sometimes she is
forced to take what she can get. Father Regent Vandermire has already once saved Jess from
death. He had to; after all they are brother and sister.
But he also knows that his time is limited. He needs to
find someone who will take care of Jess when he's gone.
Regent knows that Jess can at times need that extra
special care, just what to do and what to say when Jess is
upset. It's at that time that her other side can come out.
Her undead side. Author Lina Gardiner has given us a look into the world of
the undead. A place where some can walk on holy ground,
survive sunlight, and be able to look at a cross. While
reading the setting takes on a modern day CSI type
background, Forensic Vampirologist, VNA testing, research
into Sunshine, a very nasty drug for the undead and
special made shoes that the heel becomes an extended
spike. Along with super nasty, drug enhanced bad, oh so bad
undead monsters and Prometheus, who has been around for a
very long time and has lots of power. He wears a long
leather coat and being a huge WWE fan, Prometheus made me
think of the Undertaker. The loving and caring
relationship between brother and sister stands out even
more than anything else in this book. Such devotion to
each other warms the heart. Before reading the last few
pages I had hoped that this could be the first in a series
of books. YES, it is!!! Lina has got a new fan here.
