"Delve into the word of the Psy, again..."
Faith NightStar is an F Psy, the rarest, and most sought-
after type of Psy there is. With her talent of
forecasting, she is invaluable to her Clan. Faith also
happens to be one of the best at forecasting future
business happenings. Unfortunately for Faith, since she is
the best, she is also monitored constantly. Not only are F
Psy extremely rare, they also tend to go insane, so her
PsyClan keeps her on a very short leash. Lately, she's had
some very disturbing dreams—dreams she knows are visions
of future events. There's killing and blood, not at all
the types of visions Faith is supposed to have. Since she
can't go to any of the Psy for help in getting these
disturbing dreams to stop, Faith knows she will have to go
outside the NetMind. Since there is only one person Faith
knows of who fits this description, she manages to elude
her "keepers" and heads into DarkRiver territory to find
Sascha. Vaughn D'Angelo is considered a loner, even among other
Changelings. Of course, he lives with the DarkRiver pack
instead of with other jaguars. Ever since he was abandoned
by his parents, and his little sister died, he was on his
own, so he is a bit more feral than other Changelings. He
still feels responsible for his little sister's death.
When he discovers a Psy house bordering DarkRiver
territory, he decides to investigate a bit further.
Imagine his surprise when a Psy female jumps over the
fence surrounding the house. Of course, she doesn't smell
like most Psy. In fact, she smells rather good to him. And so Faith finally meets with Sascha, of course,
precautions are taken to protect Sascha, especially by
Lucas, alpha of the DarkRiver pack. As an E Psy, Sascha is
able to feel some of what Faith is going through. The more
Faith talks with Sascha, the more she realizes just what
has been missing from her life. Of course, the fact Vaughn
seems to have this idea she is his mate, just adds to
Faith's confusion. Will the emotions Vaughn is causing Faith to feel cause
her to go insane? Will Faith be able to handle the
feelings and Vaughn? What of the killer? Will they be able
to stop the killer before he strikes again? Will they be
able to get Faith away from the Psy, and safely? VISIONS OF HEAT is a fantastic sequel to SLAVE TO
SENSATION. Once again, author Nalini Singh takes us into
the world of Changelings, humans and the Psy. With this
story, we get more of a look into the workings of the Psy
Council, as well as learn how the Psy treat their own with
each hint of what will happen to Faith, should she go
insane. We also learn just a tantalizing bit more about
the darkness and evil that dwells among the Psy. Take one
male dealing with feelings of abandonment and loss and
shutting himself off from others, add one female who has
never had a connection with anyone else, throw in an evil
murderer and this adds up to one brilliant sequel. I can't
wait to see where Nalini Singh takes us next in this
wonderful world. And yes, this one does have its keeper
spot on my shelf and I will be recommending it to others.
