REVIEW

"a captivating tale of love, mystery and danger"

Portia Cabot has never told anyone what happened in the crypt. What did it matter since the cursed life she saved had left town to search for his soul.

Julian Kane has never forgotten his "Bright Eyes." He left her because being a vampire he could offer her nothing but regret.

It is five years later when the two meet, again. There have been horrible murders where the women are left drained of blood. Portia fears that Julian has embraced his dark side, and yet she finds that she doesn't fear him. If anything, her childish infatuation has turned into something more meaningful. Julian thought to forget Portia, but seeing, talking, and touching her proves that he not only lost his soul, but his heart as well.

Ms. Medeiros has written a captivating tale of love, mystery and danger. Portia is truly a match for the dangerous Julian Kane. She proves it with her wit, and courage to challenge him to be the man that he is capable of being. He may be a creature of the night, but honor means everything even if it will ensure his damnation. This is the first novel I have read of Ms. Medeiros. Obviously, this is part of a series of vampire tales, but I had no trouble starting in the middle of it all. The author is good about referring to previous adventures making me want to go back and read their stories. I truly enjoyed this fast-paced tale, as I'm sure others will too.
