Kafira Knight is one of four gargoyle sisters, who protect humanity against evil beings, such as vampires and succubi. Kafira's sister, Ariel, is pregnant with the child of blood, and he must be protected at all costs. Kafira's old flame, Dagan, reappears after almost being killed by an unknown evil source. Kafira, who was greatly hurt by Dagan, hopes that he will leave as soon as he heals, but Dagan has a role to play in saving the child of blood.

Ms. Gerow pens a marvelous addition to her gargoyle series. With great characters, exciting action, an epic battle between good and evil, and a chance for love to be redeemed, FIRE MAIDEN is a great read. Kafira is torn between the tragedy and hurt of the past and her love of Dagan. Dagan, who also has issues with the past, knows he must make amends for causing Kafira pain. Only when these two lonely, hurt individuals can come together in love will evil be conquered.

In the sequel to "Stone Maiden" you'll meet the next Knight sister: Kefira has issues. Lots of issues that gnaw at her and she deals with them through her fiery temper. What would any self-respecting redhead do? Especially when you're also a gargoyle charged with protecting your sister's child from various ghouls and supernatural creatures that what to turn you to dust at any moment. Just when you think you've got a handle on things your ex-lover and paladin crashes through your front door carved up by Succubus girls out for a good time. Now Kefira has to reign in her legendary temper and figure out how she feels about Dagan. Because the past ain't so perfect -- and what she remembers of it, may not be what really happened...
