"Humorous time travel romance!"
Why did she take this stupid survival class? If it wasn't
for this stupid survival class, Chloe Monroe wouldn't be
lost out in the middle of the woods with her friend ragging
on her. Just when Chloe is about ready to lose it, she
spies mushrooms. When she goes closer, she notices they're
in a ring... A fairy ring! So, what the heck, since she's
lost and not going anywhere anyway, might as well do
something. So Chloe dances in the fairy ring and makes a
wish. Naturally she wishes for her soul mate but then she
gets dizzy and faints. When she wakes up, Chloe begins to realize she's not in
Georgia anymore. Not to mention, her clothes disappeared
and there's a man behind her. Although the man looks good
enough to eat; not only does he talk funny, he's dressed
weird too. Finally, Chloe manages to figure out that she's
in the Scottish Lowlands and as if this wasn't bad enough,
it would seem she also ended up back in time. Medieval
Scotland is in fact, not a friendly or sanitary time of
history. Sean Frazier is Laird of his clan. On his way to a meeting,
he runs across this wee bonny lass. The poor lass must be
mad; he can't understand half of what she's saying. So Sean
does the gallant thing and offers her his shirt to wear so
she can at least cover herself. On the way to his keep, he
finds some dead men. When he discovers Chloe's last name is
Monroe, he immediately suspects she had something to do
with the deaths. After all, the Fraziers and the Monroe's
are enemies. Will Chloe ever get home again? What of Sean? What will he
do with a Monroe? What of the attraction between the two?
Is Sean really Chloe's soulmate? THE FAIRY RING is a humorous time travel romance. Catherine
Paige did a wonderful job of making Chloe real and of
dealing with the realities of going back in time. I really
loved Chloe's reaction to a glass of water with floaties in
it, that Sean told her looked fine to him. Not to mention
her reaction to a rat. Instead of glossing over most of
these "finer" details like with most time travel romances,
Catherine Paige dealt with them in a very realistic and
humorous way. Chloe is a very feisty woman and Sean has to
prove just how understanding he can as he deals with her
and her reactions to his time period. I highly recommend
this story to anyone that needs a laugh or enjoys time
travel romances. Posted July 15, 2004
