"Fans of dark fantasy should give this a try!"
Jarad, a member of the Syrithian council, witnesses the
murder of his wife and daughter at the hands of the Kahns.
When a new treaty of peace is reached with the Kahns,
Jarad refuses to accept the treaty and vows to kill all
Kahns. Because of his refusal to accept the treaty, Jarad
is banished and sent out into the desert. He is saved from
certain death in the desert by Xenia and her people. Xenia
tries to help Jarad get past his hatred, but his pain and
hatred is too intense. The people traveling with Xenia are
butchered by some Kahns, and Xenia's daughter is taken
captive. The Kahns are headed towards the Syrithian lands,
and Jarad goes with Xenia to free her daughter. JARAD'S RETURN is an interesting fantasy romance, which
takes place in a harsh, intriguing world. Ms. Crawford
creates an interesting but sometimes brutal world of
warring peoples and political intrigues. The hero and
heroine of JARAD'S RETURN are very tortured characters-- a
little too tortured for my tastes. This book kept my
attention from beginning until end, and I was surprised by
the last part of the book. All in all, JARAD'S RETURN was
a little too dark for my tastes, but fans of dark fantasy
should give it a try. Posted November 24, 2004
