REVIEW

"Entertaining Read!"

Talia is a werewolf created by Macha and sworn to kill the psychotic killer that has stolen the powerful scepter of Danu. She runs a private eye firm, Night's End, where she hunts and eliminates whatever threatens humankind.

Her ragtag team is Alaric, a werewolf that Talia has been in love with forever, and he with her, though neither have spoken the words. Cara is a vampire that looks more like a victim than a blood-sucking fiend, and Kyle another vampire that loves to joke but has dark secrets of his own.

In The Demon's Eye, The Night's End team is hired by Adam, a tribal sheriff from North Carolina. He has numerous murders and has no clues to help him find the killer, though he has a hunch it isn't human. If that isn't enough Talia must deal with her emotions concerning Alaric; face the truth about her sister, Gannera that she hasn't seen in hundreds of years; and take care of Anthony, her nephew that has known nothing but what his rogue mother has taught him.

Ms. McBryar pens a tale of suspense and intrigue around the Celtic gods. The characters are werewolves and vampires with very human emotions making them likable and wanting to know more about what makes them tick. Ms. McBryar's first novel of the Scepter Series was truly enjoyable. This reader will definitely be looking for her next book. Good job! Fantastic read!

SUMMARY

Centuries ago, as men measure time, the great Goddess Danu created a scepter. She poured vast amounts of raw magical energy into the cursed thing. With time, though, Danu came to fear her own creation. She gave the foul thing to her sister, the goddess of battle, Macha. Perhaps Danu thought that Macha’s powers would offer protection from the scepter. If so, she thought wrongly. Macha became victim to the insanity caused by the scepter, and in her paranoia, she retreated to the mounds at Tara. There she secluded herself from the world and used the power of the scepter to create bodyguards. These guards were neither man nor beast, but both, creatures who were of both worlds. I am one of those creatures, neither a woman nor wolf am I, but both. I am a bodyguard; now I guard mankind. I always will.
