"Facinating and erotic world"
In the future, the sun turns blood-red then a red creature
forms over the eastern U.S. and travels across the country
leaving red sparks behind it. It dissipates over the
Pacific Ocean. The grandchildren of the children born
around the time of the red creature are born gifted. They
are called Firewalkers. Because they are different and
powerful, the Firewalkers are feared and hunted. The
survivors band together and try to help the Firewalker
children survive. Caris Montgomery, whose powers are telepathy and empathy,
works to aid the children but has to pick and choose her
battles. Because she is an empath, crowds can be
overwhelming to her. Caris, also, has the ability to dream
something and make it appear. Caris feels lonely and wishes
for a lover. She dreams of a vampire lover. Meanwhile, Jax
Regale, a vampire is being persecuted on his planet,
because of his vampirism. He is taken out and left bound,
so that he will be exposed to the deadly rays of his
planet's twin suns. Luckily, Caris' dream summons Jax to
her side just in the nick of time. Caris and Jax join in
the efforts of Caris' group. FIREWALKERS: DREAMER is an enjoyable paranormal, erotic
romance with an interesting premise. I found myself
fascinated by Ms. Walker's world and rooting for the
Firewalkers. However, I found myself annoyed with Caris at
times. She seemed to cut off her nose to spite her face on
one occasion. After not explaining the situation entirely
to Jax, she based her actions on emotions. I guess this was
to be expected of an empath, but I felt sorry for Jax. All
in all, FIREWALKERS: DREAMER was a good read; I recommend
it to the reader of paranormal erotic romance. Posted September 6, 2004
