"a light romantic comedy"
Love in the Fast Lane is an absolutely wonderful romance
that just happens to have a former race-car-driver ghost
named Coop. He's the driving force that gets Scott and
Maggie together, and when necessary, keeps them together,
but that doesn't detract from their relationship at all.
In fact, some of the most hilarious stuff happens when
they team up together to banish the ghost. This story has all the elements I love in a light romantic
comedy: witty dialogue, immediate and continuous sparks
between the hero and heroine, believable conflict, and a
great resolution. Scott and Maggie are multi-dimensional
characters, each with a life of their own that rounds out
their characters nicely. Wealth management exec Maggie
has a current significant other (did I mention conflict??)
and estranged girlfriends. Race car driver Scott has
broken bones, a ghost who won't let him be, and a career
that's spiralling downward. Ms. McKnight threw in a little suspense, too. From
visiting her website, I gather she likes to do that often
in her romances. I think she handled that with a deft
touch, adding to the conflict without detracting from the
relationship. My local bookstore won't have any copies of this never-
dull, often laugh-out-loud funny romance. I'm buying them
all up for those after-Christmas parties, those sorry-I-
didn't-get-to-see-you-sooner gifts. Reviewed by: Lu Kodiak
