"Fantastic Medieval Romance!"
Lady Leandra of Lyonesse is not a typical Lady of the
manor. When her mother died, her father devoted himself to
prayer, leaving Leandra to deal with running Lyonesse. When
her beloved Lyonesse is besieged by pirates, Leandra sees
no way of protecting her home other than by marriage. And
so she has her father arrange for a betrothal to Reginald,
the Earl of Tremelyn. Since the survival of Lyonesse
depends on the protection of the Earl, and Leandra knows he
was previously married to a woman he adored, she decides to
get a love potion. Sir Garrett Bernay has finally managed to become a Knight.
After his uncle's traitorous activities, his family lost
everything, from their honor to their home. Garrett has
managed to finally step out of the shadow by attaining his
knighthood and is looking forward to regaining his home one
day. He is planning on going to France with the King and
taking his brother and squire, Wystan, with him. Imagine
his surprise when his liege lord, the Earl of Tremelyn,
requests Garrett go and fetch his betrothed. Not
surprisingly, Garrett tries to talk his way out of it,
however, the Earl will trust none of his other knights with
this task. Garrett finally gets to Lyonesse, only to be attacked by
Lady Leandra herself! Of course, he managed to arrive at
the same time as the pirates, but still. Once his feathers
become unruffled, Garrett and Leandra's father sign the
betrothal contract. So away they go to Tremelyn. Since her
orphaned cousin, Brenna, refuses to stay behind in
Lyonesse, Leandra brings her with to serve as her maid.
When Garrett tries to break up the budding relationship
between Brenna and Wystan, she becomes incensed and decides
to play a trick on him. What does she do? She decides to
try out the love potion on Garrett and Leandra. Will Garrett and Leandra fall in love? What of the Earl,
Leandra's betrothed? Will the two of them deny their love,
or will they do their respective duties? A TENDER MAGIC is a wonderful story, full of danger and
kidnappings, tricks and deceptions, and most of all, love.
Linda Madl has done a marvelous job with this story. We are
transported back to the days of knights in shining armor
from the very first page. Both Leandra and Garrett are very
strong individuals. Garrett has his life mapped out and has
no intentions of deviating from that path, while Leandra
feels the responsibilities of Lyonesse lie heavily on her
slim shoulders. Then we also have Brenna, light hearted,
beautiful and the exact opposite of her cousin. If you
enjoy medieval romance as much as I do, you definitely
don't want to miss this one!

The Knight Handsome Sir Garrett Bernay values honor above all. He is enraged that, instead of fighting beside the king, he must escort Lady Leandra to wed his liege lord.
