"A fantastic look at a handicapped vampire!"
Dechrista is not only a drug addict, she's also a
prostitute. Tonight she's really hit the jackpot. Not only
is her John for the evening good looking, he's managing to
actually get her off as well. So when the guy asks her if
she wants to become a vampire, she agrees, thinking he's
just a little on the strange side. As he's sitting in his room writing his music, Woodrow
becomes aware of the scent of his problem "child", Herb.
And Herb has one with him in the process of changing. The
two go to Woodrow's room just before he's called to
the "Master", Zigor, the one who created him who just
happens to be one of the Ancients. When Woodrow returns to
his room, he finds Herb gone, once again leaving Woodrow to
clean up after him. Even though he has trained many,
something about this woman calls to him and he decides to
help her. When Dechrista finally wakes up after her change, she can't
believe this really good looking guy in the room with her
when he tells her she's now a vampire. Just before she runs
away, Woodrow tells her when she's ready to learn about her
new skills, to return. The first thing Dechrista notices
are her fangs, then her sense of smell and hearing. When
her strength kicks in, she runs again and ends up on the
verge of being raped when Woodrow saves her. Will Dechrista finally agree to her training now? And
exactly how is Woodrow going to train her? After all, he is
blind. Woodrow has never acted on his attraction to any of
his "students". Will be able to maintain his objectivity
with Dechrista? BLOOD AND SOUL 3: VAMPIRE GUARDIAN is a fantastic
continuation in the BLOOD AND SOUL series of vampire
stories. Once again, Kate Hill has a "less than perfect"
being in the role of a main character: In this particular
instance, the hero and his blindness. It is truly amazing
how he's managed to cope with his handicap throughout his
years of "unlife". And our heroine isn't perfect either. A
doped up prostitute, she must learn to turn her life
around. If you enjoy a hot read with less than perfect
characters, you don't want to miss this one! Posted October 26, 2004

When her latest john offers to make her a Vampire, Dechrista Davis is too strung out to care. Come on. The guy’s cute enough, but who would believe a line like that? She must have passed out, because she can’t remember much beyond thinking she’d heard of worse fetishes. She wakes up in the care of a handsome, mysterious man she’s never met before. Even worse, he shares her john’s delusions. He calls himself Woodrow Quint, and he claims to be her Guardian. When reality sets in and Dechrista realizes her new set of fangs are not the result of cosmetic dentistry and her increased strength is not simply part of a lingering drug-induced nightmare, she should be horrified. On the other hand, she’ll never have to be homeless or hungry again. But right now, all she’s hungry for is the one man she can’t have -- Vampire Guardian Woodrow Quint -- her exact opposite in every way.
