"Funny "save the world" story!"
Lately, things are not all well and good at the Wyndham
mansion within the Wyndham Pack. Even though they're best
friends, Derik just can't seem to stop himself from
challenging Michael, the Alpha male of the Pack. When
Moira, a childhood friend and Pack member, tells Derik the
way he's acting is because he's Alpha as well, Derik knows
he needs to leave before he does something he'll regret.
When Antonia, the Pack's soothsayer, tells Derik he has to
go kill the reincarnation of Morgan Le Fay, Dr. Sarah Gunn,
or the world will end, Derik seizes the opportunity to
leave the Pack and heads to California. Sarah is not having a good day. Running her toes through
her last pair of clean pantyhose, she's wondering what else
can go wrong. Of course, her car died and she's waiting on
the loaner the shop promised her, and it's late. So when a
gorgeous blond hunk shows up at her door with a powder blue
convertible, Sarah figures he's bringing her loaner car. If
he's bringing a loaner, why is this man trying to kill her?
Not surprisingly, her "luck" makes it impossible for him to
do so and she ends up tying him to a kitchen chair using
electrical tape. Eventually, Derik realizes he won't be able to kill Sarah
and Sarah finally believes he's a werewolf. The two of them
decide to stick together and see Sarah's mentor. They find
out there's a group after Sarah, Arthur's Chosen, and they
need Sarah in order to resurrect Arthur. Sarah's mentor
tells the two of them to confront Arthur's Chosen or the
world will be destroyed. Will Arthur's Chosen be able to kill Sarah? Why can't Derik
kill her? What of Sarah's "luck"? And most importantly,
what of the attraction between Sarah and Derik, a sorceress
and a werewolf? DERIK'S BANE is a humorous mix of danger and attraction.
MaryJanice Davidson has once again lived up to her
reputation of writing serious stories with a humorous
slant. I really love MaryJanice Davidson's stories and
DERIK'S BANE is no exception. Her stories always put me in
a better mood. There's always the "heartfelt sigh" at the
end with the HEA and how they get there always has me
laughing out loud. From Derik's constant need to eat to
Sarah's ability to somehow manage to get whatever they
need, this is a fantastic story I highly recommend!
