"Wonderfully written Scottish medieval Romance"
Hannah Campbell has been in love with Gavin MacGregor ever
since she first met him. It was years ago. She was just
fourteen and her brother promised her to a man she didn't
want to marry. She ran away from her Clan. She was at a
loch, when he pulled her in. He was very close to her own
age and handsome even then. They began playing in the loch
when Gavin's father came by. Gavin's father was The
MacGregor, laird of the Clan MacGregor. One of Hannah's
relatives, Dougal Campbell, killed him. Gavin had gone back
to his clan to get dressed. He told Hannah to wait there
for him. When he didn't come back, Hannah followed him. She
heard the sounds of battle and hid. She crept up to the
battle site and saw her cousin Dougal viciously
slaughtering everyone in the MacGregor encampment. She saw
the MacGregor Laird being killed. She tried to save Gavin's
life and needed her brother's help. Gavin MacGregor owes Owen Campbell his life. When Dougal
Campbell killed his father, it was Owen that managed to
save him. Owen has decided to call in his debt. Dougal run
to England and rumors are spreading he is coming back to
the Highlands, along with a band of mercenaries. In order
to gain the MacGregors as allies, Owen is offering his
sister in marriage to Gavin. Owen wants them handfasted,
for a year and a day. Gavin really doesn't want to go
through with the marriage. Owen asks a further favor of
Gavin. Owen wants the marriage to remain unconsummated.
Since Gavin really doesn't want to wed a Campbell, he
agrees. Until the ceremony when he finally sees Hannah. She
is everything he ever wanted in a wife. She is bonny and
soft and gentle and she comes to the ceremony with a scrap
of the MacGregor plaid on her gown. Right then and there,
Gavin loses his heart to Hannah. How will Gavin manage to keep his marriage chaste when his
wife tempts him at every turn? Gavin is the only man Hannah
has ever wanted. She can't understand why their wedding
hasn't been consummated yet and blames herself. And what of
the threat of Dougal? Will Gavin ever recognize Hannah as
the lass he met by the loch that fateful day his father was
killed? Lori Pepio has written a wonderful Scottish medieval
romance with HIGHLAND HONOR. We become transported back to
the Highlands in medieval times from the very first page of
the book. The story will hold your attention from the very
first page, right up to the ending. The characters are all
realistically portrayed, from Hannah's abusive father and
how he beat his wife, to Gavin's arrogance and desire to
protect and take care of everyone. The emotions become
fully engaged as well as Hannah wills her husband to
remember her. I highly recommend Lori Pepio's HIGHLAND
HONOR to all lovers of Scottish medieval romances. Reviewed by Chere Gruver
