"ght-provoking science fiction erotica with lots of inventive alien sex"
Sci-rotica is a collection of 18 science fiction/erotica
stories of varying length. They are set everywhere -- from
futuristic Earth to starships -- and their tones range the
entire gamut. The book opens with "The Academy", where a
student learns that the elite scholarship she has won has a
few dark strings attached. It closes with "Timespanner",
about an alien trapped on Earth, who decides to investigate
how natives conduct their sexual encounters. In between, we
have a selection of futuristic societies and sexually
adventurous aliens. None of these stories is especially long, but all are well-
written. There are some misspellings/typos, but nothing too
distracting. These aren't romantic stories for the most
part. They are stories about sex, and aliens, and how we
relate to each other as humans. Yes, the sex is bountiful,
the characters pleasant and, for the most part,
sympathetic, but this book is really for those who enjoy
science fiction stories and would like to read some that
are a little on the spicy side. Only a small percentage of
the stories end with a classical (more or less) happy
ending, a few of them are fairly horrific in nature. Some
are lighthearted, and some you enjoy for the sheer
humanness that Hale portrays. Overall, Sci-rotica is a fun read, but don't go into it
looking for women's erotica -- this is a book clearly
written by a male. Thought-provoking and full of fantastic
imagery, Sci-rotica is definitely recommended to anyone who
enjoys short science fiction. This book contains (though never in an ugly or brutal
manner) oral sex, anal sex, vaginal sex, alien sex (with
odd organs), homosexual sex, rape, coercive sex. Note to potential buyers: Zumaya's ebooks are, as far as I
can tell, only offered in dual-column format. Reviewed by Ann Leveille

An urgent cry in the dark, the sinuous rhythm of skin on
skin-in the universe of Scirotica, the domain of space is
anything but cold and lifeless. It can be as vast as and as
infinite as the stars or as intimate as the flesh. In this
realm, the foreplay of the mind reveals all secrets,
transcends all barriers until only the naked soul
remains. For the bold, for the adventurous, eighteen tales to tease
the senses and tantalize the mind await...
