"This series just keeps getting better!"
Once again, we get to travel to the planet of Zylar. Only
this time, we actually begin on Zmar, a planet colonized by
the people of Zylar. Our heroine in this story, Ahnika, is
traveling by boat to an uninhabited island. Her brothers
are with her on this herb gathering trip. On the way,
Ahnika has a feeling of great unease and just wants to go
back home. Once they arrive at the island and begin
gathering herbs, Ahnika knows why she had the feeling of
unease. She ends up captured by men wearing the Zylan
Ruler's crest and taken to Zylar, a planet she always
wanted to visit. However, this is not the vacation of
Ahnika's dreams when she finds herself in a small dungeon
cell, tortured and beaten as part of her "training" to
become a slave. The night before Ahnika is supposed to be
implanted with her links, she manages to escape through the
bathing pool. Raj, Mica's Vampen brother, is a Hunter. However, he has a
conscience and does not take just any case. When Brac, one
of the council members, requests Raj's help in finding his
so-called daughter—one he has no images of and cannot even
recall her eye color—Raj knows there is something amiss and
decides to find Ahnika, just to discover what is going on.
There is also something very different about Raj, he can
find soul traces of people and tracks them in this manner.
When he finally picks up Ahnika's trail, her soul trace is
more vivid than he can recall ever seeing before. When
these soul traces attempt to surround him, Raj slams down
his psychic guards. As a Vampen, Raj feeds off the energy
of a woman during orgasm and when he's captured by a
village of woman and immobilized into "servicing" them all,
he gains enough power to break free of his bonds and once
again, goes after Ahnika. Eventually, Raj does manage to find Ahnika and saves her
from other, less scrupulous hunters. When he finds her, he
also realizes she is his life mate. However, after the
treatment Ahnika received from Brac, she is terrified of
men. Will Raj and Ahnika ever become life mates? Will Ahnika
ever overcome her treatment at Brac's hands? What will Tar,
the Ruler of Zylan, do once he discovers what Brac is up
to? What will his mate when she finds out what's going on?
Will Ahnika ever see her family again? ZYLAR'S MOON 3: ZYLAR'S REBELLION is a wonderful
continuation of this series. Ravyn Wilde takes us right
back to Zylar and all the characters we met and loved in
the first two books. In this book, we get to learn all
about the Vampen and the theory as to how they came about.
This story is a bit darker than the other two as we go into
the mind of a sexual victim and learn how they are forced
to deal with what has been done to them and their healing
process. This is a wonderful escape from the humdrum
occurrences of daily life into a breath taking world of
beauty, life mates and hot sex and I highly recommend it.

Which presents a problem, as he is also a Hunter hired to find the missing daughter of one of Zylar's Council of Ten. Maintaining his energy is difficult as he tracks Ahnika into the wilds of Zylar. It doesn't take long for him to discern that nothing is quite as it seems. Raj finally finds Ahnika and vows to lead her to safety. And finds more than he bargained for.
