"The deepest, most involved Trek Mi Q\'an book yet!"
Book 5 in the Trek Mi Q'an series. The story begins with
Jek Q'an Ri, who is being given orders to find the lost
princesses Janna and Dari. He is to search the First
Dimension -- Earth. There he finds, though he is not
looking for her, Brynda Mitchell, his Sacred Mate. Brynda, a librarian in 1986 Texas, has cancer and is dying.
When Jek claims her, she is horrified. When his leige lord,
King Kil, orders Jek to explore three dangerous Third
Dimension worlds, he is forced to comply though Brynda may
be put in danger. There are many subplots in this volume and the entire
epilogue is dedicated to previewing future events and
possibilities. Black is, at this point, getting very deep into her
universe, and unless you've read the previous volumes in
the series you're pretty much guarenteed to get lost in the
names, cultures, and past histories. That said... Jek Q'an Ri appeared briefly in Enslaved, and now we get to
see his meeting with his Sacred Mate. Brynda's mortality is
a big issue, but is handled well. This volume is
reminiscent of No Mercy, where the characters trek through
various cultures and experience their sexual customs, in
one way or another. Another bright step in the series, leaving readers panting
for the next release. Reviewed by Ann Leveille
