"a journey of self-discovery in unique fantasy world"
Sarah has not had an easy life. She lost her mother at a
young age and her brother abused her. Sarah tried to tell
her father about the abuse, but he basically ignored her.
She works for an insurance company now in a different town.
The only things that she can feel anymore are hate and
anger. She has empty sex, which brings about self-
loathing. She is not close to her aunt and uncle, her only
other living relatives. Her aunt has just called and let
her know that her father passed away. She doesn't really
want to go, but she calls her office and arranges for some
time off and heads to her father's house. Her aunt Mary is
there waiting for her. She gives Sarah a book that he
intended for her. It was the book that helped her growing
up. Sarah takes the book up to her old room where she
decides that she has had enough of life. She goes to the
window and opens it up viewing the metal spiked fence below
and then takes a flying leap. Sarah lands in a different place entirely! The man that
catches Sarah dies and she finds herself surrounded by
people. She ended up on Equidistant, the center of the
universe. She has Crossed. The people surrounding her are
Riate, Ariana and Jaeb. Who take her to a chamber and
explain what happened. Her hosts are the Ecusson, who are
basically in charge of Equidistant. They each have power
over a certain aspect of life here and they explain to
Sarah that she was purposely brought to Equidistant. The
Augur foretold of her coming and that she would be the one
that would save them by using her emotions. By some great
magic, the Augur created a circlet which speaks with his
voice and it will use Sarah to destroy the evil Werd,
another Crossover. Werd was brought to Equidistant by
Dazruhn, an Ecusson that wants to use the circlet to escape
Equidistant. Dazruhn believes that if he can get to another
world, he will be more powerful. At this point, Sarah feels that she must be insane! This
can't be true! Ariana tells Sarah that she must use her
emotions to fight the possessions of the evil Werd. He has
the same power as Sarah does and creates evil possessions
by the use of his mind. Sarah will have the same abilities.
She will also be able to heal by feeling compassion. Now Sarah begins her journey to find the circlet. She has
two of Ariana's mind-beasts with her, Trapper and Monger.
They are there to help her deal with any possessions she
creates. She also has two of the Ephemeral with her, Leas
and her brother Fhlanaet. Ariana warns her that the journey
will be perilous and to be careful of whom she trusts. So
they begin their journey, as person after person tells
Sarah to seek another. They also add more companions. This is a wonderful story, filled with all kinds of
different and unusual creatures and beasts and people. This
is a totally unique world. Equidistant is made up of all
different kinds of Crossovers and they each have their own
place. This is more a journey of self-discovery for Sarah
as she learns bit by bit what she will come up against. I
have never read anything like this story before. I really
love the way that everything is so slowly revealed to Sarah
and how she learns to deal with her past. She begins to
feel again, and she's not sure how to deal with it. She
doesn't fully trust all of her companions, but knows that
they are with her for a reason. Her mind beasts are totally
loyal to her and won't let her out of their sight. This is
a fantastic story, filled with adventure and danger and
magic throughout. The action is fast-paced and continues
throughout the story. The characters are all very well
portrayed and well written. Read THE AUGER'S VOICE and
journey along with Sarah and her companions as they travel
on their quest through this totally unique world of
