"A story filled with all types of paranormal beings!"
Maria Antoinette has lived a long, long time. Thankfully,
she was turned before being beheaded, and also, that the
French people wanted a perfect corpse in the coffin, so
they aligned her body correctly, allowing her to
regenerate. Now living in the United States, Maria is the
Sentinel for her area, and she takes her job very
seriously, not only protecting the humans, but the
paranormal beings as well. The members of her Sentinel
Council meet at her club, Sins of the Flesh. Of course,
Maria does have some help, her "book ends". Coming across
one of the men, she realized both he and his partner had
AIDS. Her compassionate nature surfacing, Maria saved them
both by making them her "human servants" and they will live
as long as she does. One night, Maria senses something particularly evil in her
domain. When she goes to investigate, she finds a body. Not
a normal corpse, this one is in pieces and looks to have
been mostly devoured. She decides to meet with her human
part of her team, a cop and a coroner. Imagine her surprise
when the cop brings his son, Justin, a former Special
Forces soldier. Since Bill is getting up there in years, he
wants Justin to replace him. Well, instant sparks fly when
the two of them meet. When the coroner has a chance to
check what's left of the body, he finds all the marrow gone
from the bones, the blood drained, and not many pieces of
the mortal's remains left. Calling in help from the main council, Maria finds they
sent none other than Luke, the vampire who changed her
many, many years ago. Luke has been chasing this particular
evil, the Empousai, for quite some time now and hasn't been
able to find a way to kill it. The only helpful thing he
has found is insulting the creature will get her to leave. Will Maria and her team be able to stop the Empousai? What
will happen between her and Luke? What of the attraction
between Maria and Justin? Will she turn him, knowing this
will only eventually force them apart? Or will she be
forced to watch him age and die as a mortal? LET THEM EAT CAKE is a wonderful vampire story! RAVYN WILDE
gives us an intriguing look into her version of a world
inhabited by paranormal beings. We have everything from
vampires and werewolves to the fae and the Empousai, a
succubus-like creature. We also get a very different look
at Marie Antoinette, one not depicting her as the spoiled,
self-indulgent child history has shown us, but as a very
strong person who takes her responsibilities seriously and
does a good job at protecting mankind, as well as her own.
Then we have Justin, the typical Alpha male, ex-Special
Forces and all. And we're privileged to watch these two
very strong individuals come together in the strongest bond
of all, that of true love. This is one vampire story you
don't want to miss!

Marie Antoinette has seen it all. Lived it all. Now happy with her life, she has nevertheless earned the shadows in her eyes. As leader of the Vampyr Council, she has plenty to do. Her two human servants, Brian and Matt, meet her basic needs, even when they irritate her. Every need except one—she hasn't had sex in decades. Then something evil moves into her region, preying on humans and immortals alike. In her search for help, an old human friend introduces Maria to his son. Justin's life hasn't been easy, and he's not looking for a long-term relationship. His final military assignment took all the life out of him. His father has the perfect solution—introduce him to the only person he knows with that same faraway look in her eyes. Intrigued with Maria, Justin is amazed to find this very older woman is his perfect match. As it turns out, he can't live without her— literally. Throw in an old boyfriend with a chip on his shoulder, a monster they can't kill and a few rogue werewolves and, well...life has never been so complicated. Or exciting.
