"Tina St. John has shown us her wonderful talent with HEART OF THE HUNTER"
Lady Ariana of Clairmont just has to rescue her
brother. When they were children, Ariana and her brother,
Kenrick, were very close. Actually, he was all she had.
Her father never paid any attention to her and her mother
passed away. When Kenrick became old enough, he joined the
Templars and Ariana was left with her father. Eventually,
Kenrick quit the Templars and came home a very different
man, secretive and keeping to his room. Then he left
again. When her father died, Ariana was left in charge of
Clairmont. Now she finds out Kenrick is being held for
ransom in France and she only has a short time to get
there. This is the only reason she is on her way to London
now to meet with the only one she could find willing to
take her across the channel in the middle of winter.
Naturally, she doesn't trust the man and with good reason.
When he kills her guard and attempts to take her to sell as
a slave, she is saved by Braedon le Chasseur. Braedon once had a company of mercenaries, until one of
his company betrayed him while retrieving an object for a
client. Only Braedon and one other of his loyal men
survived the betrayal, both men bearing the scars. Ever
since that time, Braedon has become a loner, which is why
he can't believe he actually bothered to save Ariana. Of
course, she is a beauty. When he takes her to the home of
a friend, he believes himself well rid of her. However,
this isn't the case. Just as he's getting ready to leave
London, Ariana shows up and demands he take her to France
to see her brother. When Ariana offers herself as payment,
Braedon reluctantly agrees. He knows there's more to
Ariana's story than what she's telling him. When the two of them finally get to France, they find
all kinds of people watching for them and end up evading
capture time after time. Will Ariana ever confide in
Braedon and tell him the truth about why she wants so
desperately to get to her brother? Will Braedon reveal the
truth about his "gift" to Ariana? What of the attraction
between the two? Who is the one responsible for the
kidnapping of Kenrick and what is he after? HEART OF THE HUNTER is a bit of deviation from the
normal type of tale expected from Tina St. John. With this
one, we also get a paranormal twist with the ancient land
of Anavrin and Braedon's unique "abilities". It is
impossible not to become involved with the characters in
Tina St. John's latest offering. Both our hero and our
heroine are wounded and used to being lonely. Even though
a sheltered lady, Ariana is no shrinking violet as she
proves time and again. Not only brave and courageous,
Ariana also won't give up on eventually owning Braedon's
heart, much to Braedon's chagrin. We have a wonderful
build up of action leading us to the thrilling conclusion
of Ariana and Braedon's story. Tina St. John has shown us
her wonderful talent with HEART OF THE HUNTER and I can't
wait for the next in this series!
