"Ms. Sparks weaves a tale that 'sparkles with humor"
Being vampire leader has its bad days, but for Roman
Draganesti tonight just got worse. During a test bite into
VANNA [Vampire Artificial Nutritional Needs Appliance -
blood and batteries not included] he lost one of his fangs.
He needs a dentist to restore the tooth before daybreak or
he will be a one-sided drinker for eternity. Shanna Whelan was placed in the witness protection program
after witnessing a mafia hit. Besides endangering her life,
witnessing bloody murder has her now fainting at the sight
of blood. Not a good thing for her career as a dentist but
she hasn't had to face it as no one comes into the clinic
during third shift and everything's been boring. Instead of the usual pizza delivery ending her evening,
there is a gorgeous but eccentric millionaire asking for
her help to re-implant a tooth. As a group of hit men enter
through the front door and this strange man drags her out
the back door, Shanna's life becomes anything but boring.
As for Roman, his bad night just got worse because heading
the hit-team is one of Roman's oldest enemies, vampire Ivan
Petrovsky. This humorous take of a vampire sub-culture in today's
world is entertaining and unique. The DVN (Digital Vampire
Network), VANNA and other 'cultural innovations' introduced
the right touch of comic relief to a skillfully plotted
suspense story. The personality caricatures are not
overdone making the characters likable and situations
humorous without overwhelming an interesting story. I highly recommend this book for readers who wish to read a
story with some giggles that ends with a smile. Ms. Sparks
weaves a tale that 'sparkles with humor' while delivering a
satisfying fantasy adventure for her reader's pleasure.
