"will keep you flipping the pages until the end"
Simon, Lord Falconer, is a Guardian -- the psychic group
which vows to do good and to protect normal folks from
those with magical power. Simon's magic specialty is
hunting so he is the equivalent of a
policeman/spy/executioner for the Guardians. As one of the
most magically powerful Guardians, he is the chief enforcer
for the Guardian Council. He has traced the evil use of power to Lord Drayton and
confronts him in his castle. Drayton, who is much less
powerful, should be no threat, but Simon is caught in a
spell and transformed into a unicorn. Drayton tries to kill
him to possess the magic of the unicorn horn, but Simon
escapes into the forest. Mad Meg, a simpleton, is used by Drayton's men to lure the
unicorn into a trap. Unable to help himself because of the
virgin's lure, he is caught, but Meg who adores animals
risks her life to save his, and she flees the castle on
Simon's back. They discover that mixing their blood reverses the unicorn
spell, and Simon is his human self again. He breaks the
magic bonds around Meg who is really a beautiful young
woman with a fine mind and incredibly powerful magical
abilities. Drayton has found a way to enslave magic users' minds and
to siphon off their power for his own use. Simon and Meg
band together to discover what great evil Drayton is
planning, to save others he has enslaved, and to stop him. Unicorn magic bonds the couple together, but also keeps
them apart because Meg must remain virgin until the unicorn
spell is no longer a threat. Simon and Meg are a strong couple, and Meg is delightfully
smart and powerful, and perfectly capable of saving herself
as well as Simon. Drayton is nastily evil and powerful
enough to be a true threat. The struggle between Drayton
and the couple will keep you flipping the pages until the
end. Reviewed by
