"An Edgy Paranormal Romance like No Other!"
A Hunger Like No Other is a paranormal romance that
comes tearing off of the pages from the first page and
paragraph. The atmosphere is gritty, the passion is
voracious, and the plot is like no other I have read.
Kresley Cole attacks the paranormal romance genre with
true grit, creativity and lusty romance. Her other-worldly
creatures do not hold back in any aspect of their nature
as they stop at nothing to have what they want. The book opens with Lachlain MacRieve, king of the
Lykae Clan, bound and tortured in the catacombs of Paris.
Because he is immortal no matter how close he may reach
death he awakens again to life only to be tortured again
and again. It is the unwavering belief the Lykae have of
their one true mate awaiting them somewhere in the world
that he manages to hold on to a thread of sanity; that and
the undeniable resolution that he will have his revenge
against the vampire leader , Demestriu. Beautiful, sweet Emmaline Troy wouldn't hurt a fly and
is considered an anomaly amongst the Lore as half vampire
and half Valkyrie. Only 71 years of age she has never
sucked blood from its source but rather given blood
through a blood bank, thanks to her Aunt Annika, a
Valkyrie that adopted her from birth. And Annika, keeping
her promise to Emma's mother, has managed to keep her
hidden from vampires. Emma, however, has finally managed to sneak away from
the protection of her Valkyrie Aunts and is attempting to
find her vampire father and comes to terms with her unique
identity. However because Emma has been sheltered from
much of the 'real' paranormal world of Lore, she truly has
no idea how much danger she is putting her self in as she
blindly searches the streets of Paris. Meanwhile the dark
seduction of her destiny is about to blast open the doors
of her true nature; for not too far below is a Lykae and
he has finally caught the sent of his mate. And just her
mere presence alone in Paris is enough to push Lachlain
and the beast inside to defy his restraints to seek and
claim his one and only. Ms. Cole does not hold back in A Hunger Like No Other,
as she reveals the extreme passionate nature of these
varying creatures be it through violence or love. The
dichotomy of Emma and Lachlain's relationship was
startling at first but truly showed that opposites do
attract and ultimately balance out one another if they
have the courage to reach for that change inside
themselves. I found their relationship, though turbulent,
well developed and highly stimulating. The overall plot
was intriguing and definitely leaves room for a solid
series to evolve as the reader comes to learn of many
fascinating secondary characters/creatures. Well done Ms. Cole you have definitely carved your own
niche in the paranormal romance world. A Hunger like No
Other, is not just another romantic read...it's a powerful
experience!
