"Vampire romance with some twists"
Unnerved seeing the carnival vampire Alexi Kristov, Marisa
trips as she leaves unknowing that her blood has awakened
the monster. Hoping to quiet her nightmares, she returns
the next day to find the carnival being dismantled because
the owner was murdered by a vampire. Gregori Chiavari introduces himself as a magician in town
seeking an old friend. Alexi had murdered his family and
Gregori accepted the 'dark gift' so he could avenge their
death. Now he is the only one who can save Marisa although
she also has Edward Ramsey, a vampire hunter wishing to
protect her. The story has several "yes" and "no"
relationship scenes then proceeds with some twists that
include time-travel, undead monsters and a final showdown. Marisa is an "old fashioned style" heroine whose persona
may frustrate some. Grigori was a vampire who chose his
fate and after all this time was ready for love. Alexi was
an unredeemable villain you will love to hate. Although
this was not my favorite books by Amanda Ashley [aka
Madeline Baker] it was worth reading. There is a sequel you
will also enjoy: AFTER SUNDOWN which is Edward's story.
