Who knew an Alaskan winter could be turned into such a
wonderful playground for love and intrigue? Cherry Adair's
ON THIN ICE is a novel with excellent suspense-filled
moment-to-moment excitement and heart stopping romance.
Ms. Adair's strong characters and solid plot make the book
fly by while you try to discover what will happen next in
this whirlwind adventure on the Iditarod Trail. Dr. Lily Munroe has been a widow for six months after
living in a loveless marriage for too many years. Thinking
she was saving herself for the right man she waited for
her wedding night to give her virginity. Unfortunately,
that was enough for her so-called husband as the bed had
barely cooled down and he was on to greener pastures. But
Lilly has too much honor to let go when she learns he is
dying of cancer. So she stays and continues her
Veterinarian practices while her husband whiles away their
money in risky gambling schemes that involve the ranch. Derek Wright has loved Lily since the day he met her.
There attraction was so intense it stayed with Derek over
the years regardless of how it scared Lily away from him
and into the arms of his friend Sean. But Derek knows
Sean's true colors and has suspected his treachery both as
a husband and a gambler. So Derek has kept a respectful
eye on Lily through this marriage, waiting for the day he
can finally claim what should have been so long ago. And
this time he would get it right. But life is about to change for the very masterful and
sexy Derek Wright who is on a mission. Lily is single,
it's been six months, and the time has come for him to
make his move. Lily, however, is determined to keep Derek
at arms length and what better way to do this, then to
leave Montana for the Alaska Iditarod sled dog race. A
race both she and Derek have competed in before and one he
intends to compete in again if it means being closer to
Lily. Unfortunately the harsh winter environment and the race
itself is the easy part. The complications start to hit
when someone out there wants Lily dead. She knows too much
about her dead husband's illegal business and they want
her eliminated. Lucky for Lily, Derek is also a T-FLAC
agent and has the skills and training to keep her safe.
But can he maintain her safety while chasing her down in
the race? Will this stubborn woman ever surrender to their
passion? And is Alaska's snow going to be able to
withstand these two very hot people in town? Ms. Adair has written an amazing book that truly gives the
reader a taste of adventure and a feel for Alaska through
these very multi-dimensional characters. And since I also
live in Alaska I was dying to find out how romantic can
you be when you are in sub-zero temperatures? Apparently,
temperature is not an issue when your characters are this
hot! I admire her creativity and have taken notes J! I
highly recommend this Book and frankly I am going to seek
out her other books as this is my first taste of Cherry
Adair, but it won't be my last!
