"Alpha doesn't even begin to describe these powerfully sexy vampires!"
Wrath, the last pure blood vampire is asked by one of
his closest friends, Darius to please watch over his
daughter should anything happen to him. Wrath is more than
surprised at the news of Darius having a daughter and the
fact he was able to keep it secret for more than 20 years.
This requests comes barely soon enough as the Lessers, who
are vampire hunters managed to kill Darius. Wrath filled with anger and frustration at the loss of
his good friend and member of the brotherhood, decides to
honor his last request and seek out Darius daughter, Beth
Randall. While the request doesn't seem too
extraordinary, you have to understand a couple things.
While Darius is a vampire the mother was a human. That
makes Beth half vampire. And to top it off Wrath is not
your simple sexy easy on the eyes vampire. He is one
tortured man with a HUGE chip on his shoulder because he
saw his parents killed by the Lessers which left him the
last pure vampire in the world. And to top it off the guys
vision is severely impaired. Enter Beth Randall, who never knew her "real" parents,
is having another frustrating day at work. Her boss
continues to hit on her and she has deadlines she has to
meet with the newspaper and not enough time to do it in.
All she wants to do is pick up some dinner and head home
to hang out with her cat in front of the fan as it is
another hot day in Caldwell, New York. Little does Beth know she has reached the age when her
vampire blood, which she is unaware of, starts to assert
itself in order to transform her completely. So it is safe
to say that Wrath is stumbling into her life, right on
time! As her body prepares for the transformation it makes
Beth incredibly uninhibited and in that state of mind she
is not threatened by Wrath. While enjoying the storyline of these two powerfully
created characters coming together, Ms. Ward kicks it up
another notch with some great secondary vampire and human
characters as well as a villain that will make your skin
crawl!! I truly could not read this book fast enough. The
vampires are unique in that they are born and not created
by sharing blood. The Lessers although mostly human and
move about the world easily are completely creepy in their
tactics and thinking. Without a doubt, Ms. Ward has created a well balanced
super awesome vampire series that I cannot recommend
enough. And yes I have the next book on order and I wish
it would get here faster!!
