"This book was such fun to read!"
Petra W. Field had the ill fortune to be born to
two powerful wizards when she doesn't have a magical bone
in her body. As a matter of fact, magic generally goes
haywire when she's around. So what is she doing in the
wizard capital of the world, Seattle? Just because she
doesn't have any magic doesn't mean she can't live without
it. She decides to have a little get-together at her
new home for her work crowd but there's just one tiny
problem. The new rug she bought at a flea market has a
magical bloodstain in it and she has to get it out fast.
She calls Rapid Renovations but they have her on hold too
long and when her doorbell rings, Dugan from Emerald
Renaissance Garments stands there. She invites him in
because she really needs to get that bloodstain out NOW!
Dugan recognizes the rug and can't figure out how
in the world Petra comes to have it in her home. He calls
his top wizard, Vorador. Vorador and Petra absolutely rub
each other the wrong way from the very first but the more
they have to work together the more they want to be
together, but first they must figure this mystery out.
There is so much more to this story. There are
little ins and outs and subtle nuances that just had me
rolling in the floor. Vorador has an affinity to fire so
any fire reference that comes out of Petra's mouth does
very strange things. Imagine what 'Great balls of fire'
does. Oh my, what a mental picture that was! I thoroughly enjoyed Garthia Anderson's foray into
wizards and wizardry. I sincerely hope she will give us
more stories along this vein as I know I will be one of the
first begging for them! Kathy Boswell © March 2003 for
