"What a debut book!"
I cannot say enough good things about this book. I was
absolutely riveted to every page. The paranormal aspects
absolutely blew me away! Delilah Reese also known as Dela vacations in China when she
goes to market and is persuaded to buy an intriguing puzzle
box by an ancient Chinese woman. She goes back to her hotel
room and tries to figure out how to work it. When a seven
foot hunk of a warrior appears in her room, Dela is
intrigued but not especially surprised considering who she
and her family are and what they can do. Hari tells her he was imprisoned in the box ages ago by a
very powerful magi who killed his sister and now he is hers
to command. Dela doesn't want to command Hari but she
doesn't know what to do with him. She knows she will never
imprison him in that box again and she will do everything in
her power to try to figure out how to free him. With that in
mind, she contacts the Roland Dirk, head of Dirk and Steele,
the family owned company and tells him to send her a
passport and a birth certificate for Hari so he could come
home with her. Before they can get back home, they are
attacked several times but Hari assures Dela that he will
not only protect her but he's immortal and cannot be killed.
What Dela doesn't understand is why she's being attacked. When Dela and Hari arrive back to Dela's home, they step up
their investigation along with several of Dirk and Steele's
employees with very special talents to figure out what is
going on and how to free Hari once and for all from his
curse. This book satisfied my craving for action, adventure and the
paranormal aspects just astounded me! I am putting Marjorie
M. Liu on my list of authors to watch! I predict she will be
going places and very soon! I know I for one will be eagerly
awaiting her next book! She can't write it fast enough for
me!
