"A unique story of vampires and vampire hunters!"
Donovan Bramwell is a quasi, half Vampire and half mortal.
He is also the next in line for the leadership of The
Protectorate, an organization of Vampires and mortals locked
in an age-old combat with the evil Upyran Vampires. An
organization Donovan has wanted nothing to do with since he
was fifteen, the age when his father was murdered in the
most painful way possible and his grandfather, leader of The
Protectorate, did nothing to help. Also when Donovan
happened to be bitten by Vastos, the prince of the Upyran
Vampires. This happened when Donovan was sent to help Iceni,
the last of the Ceni tribe. So the call from his
grandfather's solicitor, also in charge of the The
Protectorate Council, is not a welcome event. It turns out
Donovan's grandfather has finally become a full-fledged
Vampire and is doing his best to get Donovan to take over
The Protectorate. According to his grandfather's will, if
Donovan does not accept leadership of The Protectorate
within forty-eight hours, he will lose everything, including
his beloved home, Dun Sidhe. Meanwhile, Iceni, the Ceni Princess and the only one of her
people left, is desperate. She must regain the loss of her
amulet. After all these years, she is finally going to try
the one man who might be able to help her defeat Vastos,
Donovan Bramwell. Sneaking into his home one night, Iceni
attempts to seduce him, but it backfires on her when Donovan
finds her by reading her mind. Donovan sends her off to
sleep. Will Donovan help Iceni recover her amulet from Vastos? Will
Donovan take charge of The Protectorate, or will he lose
everything he holds dear? How is the bite from Vastos
affecting Donovan? Will Donovan turn because of the bite? DEADWALKERS: THE PROTECTORATE is a fantastic look into the
world of the vampires, mortals, quasis and all the other
characters inhabiting Angelique Armae's world in 1815
Ireland. In this story, we learn about the vampire society
with the different tribes and organizations. We also learn
of the ancient prophecy and Donovan's part in it. The
scenery and time is all well described and puts us right in
the middle of the action. The characters all remain true to
their personalities and some of them learn more about
themselves than they really wish to. This story does a
wonderful job of filling us in with the background
information without becoming overwhelming about it. I can't
wait to find out where Angelique Armae will take us next in
the DEADWALKERS SERIES.

**2005 PEARL NOMINEE - BEST SHAPESHIFTER ROMANCE** **2005 PEARL NOMINEE - BEST OVERALL PARANORMAL** A Quasi Vampire...
An evil entity older than time...
In Regency Ireland, a dark legacy re-emerges from the
depths
of the Vampire realm, leaving three souls trapped between
two worlds... Donovan Bramwell is heir to an ancient Celtic vampire
kingdom and its earthly branch known as the Night Watch, a
secret organization made up of vampires and humans
protecting the mortal realm. But when the time comes for
him
to ascend to the throne, Donovan refuses. He's been
harboring a deadly secret, a bite inflicted by an evil
entity. And only Donovan knows he's the one soul capable of
destroying the very world he was born to protect. Now his
enemy has returned and Donovan is determined to save the
Night Watch, even if it mean's sacrificing his own soul.
But
as Donovan prepares to carry out his secret plot, a female
quasi vampire thwarts his plans and forces him to relive
issues he's spent centuries trying to forget... Born a royal Celt with Vampyric blood, Iceni lost her
family
and her tribe to the Romans and the deadly vampires who
befriended the Empire. After spending centuries trying to
fight the dark souls who took away her world, Iceni now has
the chance to finally avenge her parents' deaths and take
back the sacred relic housing her father's ancient powers.
But to do so, she needs Donovan Bramwell to join her cause.
And considering she didn't exactly use conventional means
to
get the man's attention, she must first convince the Night
Watch heir she's not the enemy... Suffering from a bite gone wrong, Vastos, a Vampyric prince
older than time, returns to man's world determined to cure
the ailment inflicting his soul. But to do so, he must
fight
his greatest antagonist—Donovan Bramwell—the one soul
keeping him alive, yet causing his demise. Vastos has two
choices, conquer the Night Watch and take the throne away
from Donovan, or destroy Iceni and take full control of her
father's powers. And to a dieing vampire, choosing one
option over the other really doesn't matter...
