"The Dragon King is a very satisfying read."
Belian of Memnon, the last of the Dragon Kings, travels
to the
land of the Wyverns to find and court the woman of his
destiny.
The seer has seen that Kisah, a Wyvern princess, is his
destined
mate. When he arrives, a contest is being held by the
Wyvern king
for Kisah's hand in
marriage. Belian enters the contest for the hand of
Princess
Kisah. The Dragons can shape shift into dragon form and a
semi-dragon
form that is human with dragon wings. Dragons, also, know
how to
use magic. Long ago the Wyvern had been taught by Dragons
to shape
shift, but they took the form of birds of prey. The Wyvern
betrayed the Dragons and killed all of them but one. Over
the
years, the Wyverns have lost most of the abilities taught
by the
Dragons. THE DRAGON KING is very enjoyable fantasy romance
with a decided
Medieval feel and great characters. Kisah dislikes being
the prize
of a tournament and wishes to be won by a man that she can
manipulate. In the Wyvern culture, women are seen as
possessions,
but Kisah longs for something else. Belian, who has been
alone for
much of his life, seeks a soulmate to ease his tortured
soul.
Kisah, who has felt like a pampered possession all of her
life,
fights to have some control over her own life. It takes
awhile for
Kisah to realize that Belian's feelings are true and that
he is not
trying to manipulate her. He teaches her to trust and
love. I love
shape shifter stories and I found THE DRAGON KING to be a
very
satisfying read. I'll be looking for more of Ms. Fox's
books.

If Shadowmere had a ruler, Balian would be king. He is the
most powerful of their number, feared above all others. And
the time has come to find his mate.
In the land of Wyverns, men compete for the hand of the
princess and the riches of her father's kingdom. One among
them stands out, for he is the most skilled ... the most
dangerous, and Princess Kisah knows this barbarian warrior
will be her downfall should he win the games.
