"An enjoyable book with a yummy hero!"
Liam Lockhart, a captain in the Royal Highland Regiment,
returned home after Waterloo to await another military
assignment.
While he is at his family's estate, he learns that
something must
be done to pay their debts. If not, they will lose the
home, that
has been in their
family for many generations. Determined to save their
home,
Liam's
family sends him to London to steal back a valuable family
heirloom. When several of the Lockharts fled to London
after a
family feud, they took the family heirloom with them. When
Liam
arrives in London, he finds room and board at a miserly
viscount's
house, also living there are a woman and her young
daughter. Ellen
Farnsworth and her daughter are kept almost destitute in
Lord
Farnsworth's home. Ellen and Liam are greatly attracted to
each
other, but most sneak around to see each other. Will Liam
be able
to save his family and the woman and child, that he has
grown to
love? HIGHLANDER UNBOUND was an entertaining historical
romance
with complex and wonderful characters. Liam was a great
hero, who
I fell for myself. He was a big, blustery Scotsman with a
heart of
gold. He not only came to care for Ellen but, also, her
troubled,
lonely child. I found myself laughing at some of his money-
saving
escapades among the ton. Liam was a breath of fresh air
and cared
nothing for what others thought. Ellen made a mistake and
was
forced to pay for it for nearly ten years. She sees her
daughter
being affected by the way they are forced to live and takes
action.
While I don't agree with the actions that she took, I can
understand her reasons behind them. I, also, enjoyed the
interactions with Liam's family and can't wait for the next
book in
the series. HIGHLANDER UNBOUND was an enjoyable book with
a yummy
hero; I highly recommend it.
