"Take a read on the Wild Side!"
You just can't go wrong when you pick up a Christine
Feehan book. Her descriptions are vivid, her characters
are incredibly sexy, and the romance is too hot for words.
Wild rain is no exception. Rachael is desperate to escape her family in every way
shape and form. The only logical way to do this is to slip
away and fake her death. Then she can finally build a new
life under another identity. So far she has managed to
leave the states undetected, or so she thinks, and travel
down a wild river in Borneo with some fellow
missionaries. But things go awry when their boat comes under attack by
local rebel faction. Seizing the opportunity, Rachael slips
into the roaring river to take her chances at survival and
possibly a new life. As luck has it her training has paid
off and she makes it to shore. Feeling a sense of peace
from the wilds of the rainforest Rachael runs away into the
jungle. As exhaustion sets in Rachael stumbles on a hidden hut
up in the trees. Eager for some rest and to clean up she
takes refuge there. That is until the owner returns. One
Rio Santana, a talk dark and very feral man. Scenting that
someone is in his place he attacks with his fellow
leopards. For Rio has just come from a very harrowing
mission to save some kidnapped people from the rebels. For
all he knows they lie in wait at his hut. No sooner does he subdue a very scared Rachael, does he
realize there is a strange bond he shares with this woman.
But this makes no sense as he is banished from his kind and
has come to accept his solitary life. Rio realizes he cannot let her go until he has healed
her wounded leg after the scuffle they had. And Rachael
knows she must move on but is helpless until she can walk,
let alone run. However, the longer they stay together the
more their mutual dark pasts come out. Can they accept each
other's dark secrets? Is there room in Rio's life for
another? Can the legend be true, could Rachael be one of
his kind? This book was lush and extraordinary. The creatures and
jungle were vivid creating a wonderful wild setting.
Rachael and Rio are highly compatible characters that draw
you into their story. And the forces that work against them
only enhance the great romantic tension of Wild Rain. Reviewed by Mindy Lobaugh
