"A romantic suspense with fantastic twist"
Hallie a rich sophisticated model in the prime of her life,
but the lowest part of her marriage, is suddenly killed
when she has a massive cerebral hemorrhage. But life has
other plans. Hallie's selfish soul is not done with its
mission and she is transferred into the body of another
woman who was also supposed to die. When Hallie wakes up
she realizes she has been given a second chance at life,
just in the wrong body. She is being called Marti West a
woman in her early twenties recovering from a rape in a
small remote town in Florida, very far from Hallie's former
rich married life in California. Confused and way out of her depth Hallie does her best to
make the best of her new world and her new husband Jesse
West. One of her first inclinations is to try and change
the new person she is back into who she was before, Hallie
DiBarto. So she dyes her hair from brown to blonde and does
a little shopping. But a different body, a different place,
a different life make all this impossible to accomplish.
Hallie needs to come to terms with her new identity as
Marti. Her new husband, Jesse is anything but flashy, but has a
heart that is a true and committed as any person could hope
for. And the fact that he is easy on the eyes sure doesn't
hurt any either. But Hallie is desperate to set her life
straight and get back to whom she was. In her former life
as Hallie she made a huge mess out of love, so she is more
determined to get it right this time and decides not to
fall for Jesse. And one way to keep him at arms length is
to tell him the truth about who she really is and why she
must leave. Stumbling through this new life as an almost poverty level
waitress, Hallie, now Marti begins her quest to earn the
money she needs to return to California, but first she must
give birth to Jesse's baby that had been conceived prior to
her arrival into Marti's body. Even though Jesse gave up
his opportunity for the big time competitive stock car
racing he still holds a very enthusiastic and supportive
view of becoming a father. Marti does her level best to
keep him involved and at arms length, a situation she is
finding harder and harder to do and stay detached. The story continues along this road with an occasional bump
to let us know the attack upon Marti's life is not over
yet. Tina Wainscott starts baiting us with visits from the
attacker who is never revealed until close to the end. For
Hallie/Marti realizes that the attacker is still in town
and if she is to keep herself, the baby and Jesse safe she
will need to place some trust in the people around her. A
commitment she is terrified to make when she is trying to
return to her former life in California. Tina Wainscott takes a contemporary romance and gives it a
fantastic twist with a lot of suspense. She does an
incredible job of teaching the importance of humility and
second chances if we just trust our hearts and accept who
we are. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the not stop
turns Hallie/Marti's life takes. This is a fantastic
concept and a heart-warming romance. Reviewed by Mindy Lobaugh
