REVIEW

"Hurray for Full Figured Females!"

This is a book by Karen Fox about Robin Goodfellow, one of the Fae.  He as been trapped in a portrait for 200 years by Titania, and is inadvertantly freed by a woman named Kate who speaks his name. Unfortunately for him the spell is merely transferred to Kate, so that he can't be outside 50 feet from her.  Together they need to find a way to get Titania to release the spell. The most wonderful thing about the book is that Kate is a large woman (bless you Karen).  She is Rubenesque!  And Robin comes from a time when Rubenesque women were the epitomy of beauty.  His courtship of her is sweet, and her reluctance to believe seems very real.

I also liked the portrayal of the Fae in this.  You only see a few of them, but they are the capricious creatures of the old folk tales.  The plot really kept me interested too.  I was halfway through the last book of a series when I flipped this one open, and I switched and read this one straight through to the end.  I look forward to the next.  And I'll know better than to start it when it's already late at night.

SUMMARY

A man trapped in a portrait by an evil spell.

A woman losing her home.

Boy, could we use some magic now.

Kate Carmichael has not had an easy life. After her mother's death, her father left her in the care of a kind friend while he attempted to settle his debts, but he never returned. Now, twelve years later, Kate's guardian has passed away. And without a will promising her the Victorian house, the guardian's next of kin is ready to take possession and throw her out on the street.

With only a week before she's evicted, Kate must find the will. During her search, she inadvertently frees Robin Goodfellow from the portrait he has been magically trapped in for the past two hundred years, but the spell isn't completely broken. Some mysterious force compels Robin to remain at Kate's side. And even as they agree to help each other, a different kind of magic takes hold--leaving them spellbound in love...
