SummaryWhen he left his forest home, Slayer was an immature,

Slayer, the future ruler of the mythical kingdom of Tern
Terra, learns that the one afternoon he and Ayanni spent
together has put her in an untenable situation.
But when Slayer rushes back to Volter to make amends to
Ayanni and to protect his mother who has been hurt in a
hunt, he soon finds himself mired in problems in Volter.
Not only is there dissension from within the ranks of his
own pride, but Ayanni appears to have fallen for a tall,
handsome, blond, green-eyed shifter called Shadow, who
seems to make her happy. Has Slayer lost his one true love
to another?
Seven years of poverty has hardened Ayanni's heart against
Slayer. When they meet again, she angrily sends him away,
fearful of his reaction when he discovers her closely
guarded secret. lthough she still loves Slayer, she soon
finds herself falling for the handsome, mysterious Shadow,
another of the Great Carnivores.
But Slayer is from a family of shape-shifters who are used
to having their way and he is determined not only to win
Ayanni back, but to make amends for all her hardships.
Still, Shadow appears to have the upper hand. More, Shadow
is also deeply in love with Ayanni. Things look hopeless
for Slayer.
