Summary

A disastrous interview with the wealthy, arrogant, charismatic Caleb de Courcy, which accidentally reinforces his contemptuous attitude towards women, and the beautiful self-assured Doctor Desiree Wedgwood returns to New Zealand embarrassed, and without funding for her child health clinic.

In New Zealand Caleb finds it impossible to resist the infuriatingly captivating Desiree, but encounters many challenges to his perceptions and personality. Desiree is determined to remain unaffected and distant, and pursue the establishment of her clinic. She struggles with her feelings about his ostentatious wealth and her own emotional treachery.
