James and Paul meet at Harvard University during the peak of the Internet mania. Having dreams of wealth and glory themselves, they team up to launch their own start-up providing financial services over the net. All goes well until James is left alone in California with Mary, Paul's sister, who was helping out with the business. Despite being warned by fortune-tellers of his debilitating predicament, James engages in an intense affair, ignoring his fiance back in Boston. As the markets come crashing down, delivering a shattering blow to all his dreams, James realizes he has to confront his destiny, ultimately having to choose between the business, his fiance, and the people he loves. He is torn between right and wrong knowing that painful compromises have to be made in order for his life to move forward. James is both the hero and the villain, both the protagonist and the antagonist. He is in conflict with himself, in a constant struggle between good and evil within him.

A fast-paced drama full of high ambitions, extreme relationships, betrayal, and ultimately destruction. Addictive in the sense that you won't put it down till you've finished it, contagious in the sense that once you've read it, you have to tell someone about it.
