SummaryAlexander, Duke of Westlake, was riding through the

and wounded by a pistol shot to the shoulder. Unconscious
from loss of blood and delirious with fever, he is found
by the Tichley family and nursed back to health by the
sensible Bella.
Although related to an earl, Bella has never been enticed
by the pomp and circumstance of the ton, and is grateful
her father doesn't have money for her coming-out. But
while caring for Westlake—an admitted
rakehell—she discovers that there's more to him than
his less than sterling reputation.
But then Bella finds her own reputation at stake when she
and Westlake are left alone without chaperones for one
night. To cease the scandalous talk, they agree to
wed—and discover a love between them that neither of
them sought...
