Ryan Brown

Ryan Brown was born and raised in Texas.

Following his graduation from the University of Oklahoma, with a degree in film studies, he moved to New York, where he went on to study theatre at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Within months of arriving in New York, he was cast in the role of Bill Lewis on the CBS Daytime Drama, Guiding Light - a role he would play for the next three years.

It was on the set of Guiding Light that Ryan met his future wife, Victoria Arbiter, a television presenter, and daughter of Dickie Arbiter, former press secretary to Queen Elizabeth II. Ryan and Victoria were married in 2001. As newlyweds, they moved to Los Angeles, where Ryan soon landed the role of Billy Abbott on CBSís The Young and the Restless.

Following his tenure on The Young and the Restless, he returned to New York and continued working as an actor, appearing on Law and Order: SVU, and starring in two feature films for Lifetime Television.

It was also during this time that he decided to try his hand at fiction writing. Having always been a voracious reader, he soon discovered that he had an equal enthusiasm for storytelling, and it wasnít long before he was writing full-time (when he wasnít bartending to help pay the bills!). Within two years, he completed the manuscript for PLAY DEAD, his first published title.

Ryan is a member of the Horror Writers Association and the International Thriller Writers Association.

Never one to turn down an opportunity for travel or adventure, Ryan has zip-lined the rainforests of Costa Rica, climbed Mayan ruins in Belize, snorkeled Australiaís Great Barrier Reef, swum with sharks off the coast of Bora Bora, ridden a bicycle across Alaska, flown over the Catskills in an open-cockpit bi-plane, and driven cattle through the mountains of Montana and

Wyoming. Some of Ryanís other favorite travel locals are Italy, England, and Greece, where he spends time (some of it writing) every summer.

Ryanís passionate interest in World War II has led him to Guam, Berlin, Prague, Pearl Harbor, Paris, and the beaches of Normandy. In 2009, Ryan joined a group of Marine veterans on a trip to the Japanese island of Iwo Jima, famously immortalized by the U.S. flag raising atop Mount Suribachi in February,1945. It was the only civilian transport to land on the island that year.

Ryan is an avid tennis player, which leaves him continually tortured by the long New York winters. Other interests include photography, aviation history, and space travel. A lifelong film buff, heís been known to smother numerous cocktail party conversations with his lengthy anecdotes about John Ford and his comprehensive, frame-by-frame analysis of Citizen Kane.

Ryan is a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners. He counts marrying a British woman as the smartest thing he ever did, and is proud to call himself a bonafide anglophile.

He is the son of Michael Brown, an award-winning video producer, and Sandra Brown, a best-selling novelist.

Ryan lives in New York with his wife, six-year old son, and two rescued cats.
