I think writing about writing is about as practical as writing for money. It's the perfect way to avoid writing what you really should be writing about. So I avoid it whenever possible.

I founded the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom in 1997, and I'm now their media spokesperson. Being an activist brings in even less money than writing. I figure I picked the two worst-paid fields in the universe. I should volunteer to be studied or something.

I've published over 25 books since 1991 – science-fiction novels, media tie-in, self-help books and nonfiction books on art and popular culture. My latest fantasy novel is A POUND OF FLESH, the sequel to TO SERVE AND SUBMIT (Roc/Penguin Group). My next novel is an urban fantasy duology set in New York City - CONFESSIONS OF A DEMON and the sequel, DEMON REVELATION, which will be published in October 2009.
