Breathers: A Zombie's Lament |
S. G. Browne
Founder Bio S.G. Browne came up with the idea for Undead Anonymous in 2001 shortly after encountering a local Santa Cruz zombie named Andy who was standing on the side of the road wearing a sign around its neck that read: ZOMBIES ARE PEOPLE TOO Intrigued by this act of civil disobedience, he engaged the zombie in conversation until Animal Control arrived and took the zombie away. But in that short time, he discovered how alone the undead feel. How they have to deal with their gradually decomposing bodies and the smell of hydrogen sulphide leaking from various orifices. How they resent the fact that they have no civil rights and have to obey the rules of a discriminatory society that reviles them. Inspired by his newfound insight, he wrote Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament, to debunk the myth of the walking undead as mindless, flesh-eating monsters. S.G. Browne worked in Hollywood in the early 1990s before escaping to Santa Cruz, CA to write. He currently exists in San Francisco, CA, where he has just finished his next novel. |
