I was born in Tampa, Florida, down the street from the stadium in 1975 — the same year that gave us Saturday Night Live and the The Rocky Horror Picture Show, so I consider myself in good company. In 2001 I graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with an M.A. in Rhetoric/Professional writing, and I also have a B.A. in English from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN. In addition to novels, I write for magazines and websites, composing everything from product copy for power tools to interviews and movie reviews. You can find a mostly proper bibliography over here. (I say “mostly” because I review books for Publishers Weekly in my spare time, but I’m not allowed to tell you which ones. Furthermore, I don’t think anyone reading this page gives a hooey about the content I write for web retailers.) The odds are rather high that you’ve found your way here via my LiveJournal blog, which I’ve been keeping for quite a few years now. If this is the case, welcome to my more official sort of author page. If you have no idea what I’m talking about and you’re curious about this other site of which I speak, go here to see it. Most of the content is duplicated, yes; and most of my audience watches me from over there, from sheer force of habit. In March of 2006 I married my long-time significant other, Aric; and together with our fat black cat named Spain, we moved to Seattle shortly after the wedding. Seattle is very different from the southeast. I’m still getting accustomed to it. Last year, I bought a small orange fish and named him Howard. He lives in splendor. |
