Taryn Blackthorne

Taryn Blackthorne was born in Nova Scotia, where in sixth grade she was voted the most creative girl in her class. This was based on an uncorroborated science fair project so it is unknown if the results were reliable. Nevertheless, she went on to graduate with honours with a Bachelor of Arts in English and then a Bachelor of Education from Acadia University, promptly deciding she needed to teach in the Great White North. After a year of freezing her parts off in a fly-in community, she then decided she needed some sunshine and moved to Denver, Colorado to teach. All the while, stories danced around in her head and in various notebooks. When she was sent back to Canada, Taryn landed in the North again, and started writing in order to keep herself warm through the long winter nights. She also decided to give publishing a try, joined a writer's guild and is currently trying to take herself seriously with varying degrees of success if her cat's listening skills are any indication. She likes reading, cats, chocolate, going for walks (when it's above -27 Celsius) and continues to teach and write in Manitoba.
