Keith J. Bowers
I've been writing short stories since I was in grade school.
My writing roots extend mostly from seventh grade where I won an award for a short story on how I fell into puppy love back in the second grade. My teacher said it took lots of courage to write on that subject and presented me with a very nice pen that I still have to this day.
In eighth grade, I won an award for a poem on the Vietnam War.
In ninth grade, I managed to get a poem into Essence, the school's yearly writing journal. Poetry found its way into my heart where it sustained me through the next few years, collectively culminating in the Black Book of Hell.
In tenth grade, Essence again provided me with the publication of 'Soulmates', a short story.
I put my pen down in 1992 and for the next three years I wrote absolutely nothing.
Then came the rough outline of the Tales.
Five more long years passed.
Then in August of 2000, I started to write and haven't stopped since.
Poetry is still beyond me, but the words keep coming and the novels keep piling up. I've finished eight complete novels, one short story collection and two screenplays since beginning in 2000. Whether or not they are any good is up to the reader.
I'm entertained by writing, not by accolades.
I am a Network Analyst for a major metal producing company and hold the rank of Ikkyu in Kendo, the Japanese Way of the Sword. I have three children and am married to a wonderful woman named Jessica.
