Trenae Sumter has been writing for over nine years. Her love of historical romance moved her to learn all she could about the genre. In 1996, she attended her first Romantic Times Convention. Trenae took advantage of the seminars given by Susan Johnson, Bobbie Smith, and Mary Jo Putney. During the 1998 RT convention, she learned that Full Moon Press was requesting submissions for romantic poetry, and a short Regency romance.
Her submission, The Courtship of Chantal, won second prize in the Full Moon Press contest, and was published, along with two of her poems, in 1999.
When Trenae is not writing, she enjoys working at her own jewelry business and volunteering to promote an annual Teen Poetry contest. Her workshop, Poetry Basics will be part of Teen Read Week in the fall of 2005 at the Ponca City Library. Having written over three hundred pages of poetry, she finds delight in encouraging teenagers to find their inner voice.
The November 2005 release of her Medieval time-travel romance “Knight’s Legacy” by Medallion Press has fulfilled her dream of having a romance novel published, and she has many writing goals for the future.
Trenae is a wife and mother of one son who is in college, and one incredibly spoiled Lhasa Apso. Friend and fellow author Leslie Burbank has been an inspiration, reminding her to never give up on her dreams.
