Like most authors, Cathy McDavid dreamed of writing "that book" someday. Nine years ago, her husband challenged her to put her money where her mouth was. She did just that and learned all about all the potholes on the rocky road to publishing. Eventually, "that book" became a reality. Wild Notion was published in October 1998 and went on to become a finalist for Best First Book in the Golden Quill Contest.
Cathy's second book, The Attraction Factor, hit the stands in July 2000 to rave reviews. Before the year was out, the book would be nominated for the Dorothy Parker Award of Excellence and The Franklin Award as well as final in both The EPPIE and The IPPY contests. The Attraction Factor will be re-released in March of 2004 by Triskelion Publishing.
Christmas in Paradise, Cathy's first historical novella, appeared in America Media MiniMags in December 2000. This year, in February 2004, Cathy's first full-length historical book, His Desert Rose, was released by Avalon Books. The second book in the series, Her Heart's Treasure, recently won first place in the 2004 Heart of the West Contest, published author category.
Cathy is actively involved in several writing organizations, including Romance Writers of America. In addition, she has published numerous award-winning short stories, articles, essays and poetry.
When not hunched over a computer, Cathy can be found in the offices of the construction company she and her husband own and manage or driving her fourteen-year-old twins around town from one place to another. The McDavid Family resides in Scottsdale, Arizona.
