Linda Broday

I grew up in a small town in New Mexico, and from an early age, I was lucky enough to discover wealth didn't pertain to money. Though we could barely afford the necessities, my parents managed to instill deep- rooted values and a love for life. Yearly road trips to California to visit grandparents remain my favorite memories. We'd stop at museums, trading posts, ghost towns and anything else that caught our eye. I'm sure that accounts for my fascination of history and the Old West.

I've been a "writer in training" my whole life, beginning with a voracious appetite for reading. My sister and I became obsessed with books. Many nights long after the house grew dark and everyone else was asleep, we'd lie beneath our covers and read by flashlight until we either reached the end of the book or our eyes got too tired to see the words. Entirely new and exciting worlds opened that seemed limited only by our imagination. But I never thought I could write such books. That undertaking seemed as far-fetched as scaling Mt. Everest. It wasn't until I found myself married with three kids that I picked up pen and paper. It took me five years to finish that first novel. Then with a small measure of confidence, I wrote another. Now after many completed manuscripts, I've reached the goal of seeing my work made into print. What a satisfying life. Am I lucky or what!
