Jeanette Baker

Jeanette Baker, a literature and writing teacher, lives in Southern California. She graduated from the University of California at Irvine and later earned her master's degree in education. She is a member of the Romance Writers of America.

"I became an anglophile in 1971 on my first trip to Europe. To pass long hours on the train, I picked up a copy of Georgette Heyer's These Old Shades. At the end of three months, I had consumed every Regency I could find, a few Jane Austin novels and the poetry of Yeats, Burns, Byron and Milton. My eighteen-year-old mind knew that whatever my future plans held, they would include English literature. The following years were spent visiting the most remote and historical corners of Ireland, Wales and Scotland and teaching what I loved. Because of my penchant for the underdog, England's 'conquered tribes' became my passion.
