About PNRThank you for visiting PNR. We hope that our site will encourage you to become active in the paranormal romance genre. PNR Founding MembersCy Korte, Leslie Tramposch, Sara Reyes, Barbara Sheridan. HistoryLong ago in a galaxy far, far away...Okay, Earth 1998, there existed a small group of romance readers who loved paranormal romance but found that it was scarce. This small group of readers (160 in all) found a home at the paranormalromance eGroup where they shared news of paranormal romance releases and talked about their latest reads. Eventually the idea was formed to take those personal recommendations and post them as consumer reviews on the list. Book seller, Cy Korte, took this one step further creating the PNR Reviews website where non-listers could find information regarding paranormal romance titles. Cy currently manages PNRnews. In 1999 paranormalromance Group Manager Leslie Tramposch met two other listers, romance advocate Sara Reyes and paranormal romance author Barbara Sheridan at the Celebrate Romance Conference in Philadelphia. Sara had been lamenting the fact that the paranormal category of mainstream romance awards was comparing apples to oranges, lumping together fairies with vampires, time travels and futuristics. She suggested an award solely for the paranormal romance genre. This was proposed to the group and the excitement mounted. When asked for input, romantic science fiction pioneer Catherine Asaro proposed the name PEARL for the new award. Others suggested the acronym Paranormal Excellence Award for Romantic Literature. Sarah Pearson designed the PEARL logo and a new award was born. P.E.A.R.L. is a reader's choice award naming the "best of the best" in ten paranormal categories. Sara Reyes became the Manager of Publicity and Promotions for PNR and P.E.A.R.L. With the award came the expanded PNR website which included Paraphernalia (definition: the articles used for a particular activity), a feature column which spotlights new releases with P.E.A.R.L. category themes and author interviews. Barbara Sheridan became the Features Columnist. With the new PNR website, the paranormalromance grew to 2000 + members necessitating the expansion of the groups as well. Sister lists included pnrlite, pnrnews, and pnrattractions. Barbara Sheridan created pnwriters, a group exclusively for discussion of interest to genre writers and in 2005 Barb passed the Paraphernalia torch to Dee Gentle who is also the current PNR Reviews Editor. Our newest group is the MySpace community pnrbooks. Newest staff members are Josephine Piraneo and Mippy Carlson. A long time lister and paranormal romance author (personas include Angelique Armae and M.A. du Barry), Jo will be introducing a new feature column, Inklings for Earthlings. The column with feature articles of interest to genre authors. Mippy a PNR reviewer rounds out the staff as our New Releases Editor. Interestingly enough the genre has grown right along with the group! In fact paranormal romance is currently the fastest growing romance genre. We encourage you to Join us.... If you dare!
